06 Chanute Hang glider

From the years 1890's, Octave Chanute experimented hang gliders. Some of the principles he discovered were used by other pioneers as the Wright brothers. From the 1980's, the ultra light movement tried to enhance the Chanutes projects. The experimentations and other technical progresses opened the way to the current ultralights.

Benoit Goffart offered us the wings of a replica of a Chanute glider he started to build.
Fortunately, we have the drawings to complete the machine.

Benoit was some years ago one of the volunteers at the Brussels Air Museum. There he restored the Sabca glider.

Further actions on this project will be needed

- protect the wood structure
- assemble the glider
- prepare the display
- establish a check list for the future preservation and apply it.
