04 Avro Lancaster PD309

In August 2011, the crash location of the Avro Lancaster PD309 was excavated by a team leaded by Nicolas Clinaz. The aircraft crashed near Gembloux in 1945.

After clean up  and studies some of the parts recovered were stored at the BAPA workshop.

One of the Merlin engine was setup for display on a trolley.

Future activities will include

  • Study the required actions to preserve the parts.
  • Prepare panels explaining the history of the aircraft.
  • Prepare a check list for regular checks and corrective actions.

Here below the Lancaster parts at their arrival in 2012
